Continúo con esta serie dedicada al arte relacionado con museos y galerías, pero no las obras que se exponen, sino aquellos trabajos en los que el lugar, trabajadores, visitantes y lo que allí sucede son el motivo principal, ya sea a través de pinturas, grabados, performances, pero especialmente fotografías.
Como siempre, un post anexo en el que repaso los trabajos y artistas cuya obra se muestra en estos espacios, proporcionando imágenes e información adicional. Números de referencia en cada imagen.

Buscando el ángulo / Finding the Angle
Romano Cagnoni
Romano Cagnoni es un fotógrafo italiano nacido en Pietrasanta, Italia, que pasó la mayor parte de su vida profesional en Londres.
Cagnoni solía fotografiar esculturas en la pequeña ciudad de Pietrasanta, Toscana, famosa por sus estudios de escultura. En 1958 se trasladó a Londres, Reino Unido, donde vivió durante 30 años. A continuación, comenzó a trabajar como fotógrafo independiente contribuyendo con diferentes revistas europeas. Trabajó con Simon Guttmann.
Fue el primer fotógrafo occidental no comunista al que se le permitió entrar en Vietnam del Norte, con el periodista británico James Cameron. Romano Cagnoni is an Italian photographer born in Pietrasanta, Italy, who spent most of his professional life based in London.
Cagnoni used to photograph sculptures in the small town of Pietrasanta, Tuscany, which is famous for its sculpture studios. In 1958, he moved to London, UK, where he lived for 30 years. Here, he started working as a freelance photographer contributing to different European magazines. He worked with Simon Guttmann.
He was the first western non-communist photographer to be allowed North of Vietnam with the British journalist James Cameron. He worked in Cambodia, Nigeria during the civil war, Occupied Palestine, Northern Ireland, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Chechnya, Kosovo, with the Soviet Army in Afghanistan in 1980, in Poland (1981), and Argentinian airports during the Falklands War in 1982. He was the first photographer to set up a studio on the front line to photograph soldiers during the fighting in Chechnya in 1995.
In 1968 he won the Overseas Press Club Award, for his Nigerian Civil War reportage published in Life, the German Art Directors' Club bronze medal for documenting with a large format camera the destruction from the war in the former Yugoslavia, and many Italian prizes. He returned to live in Pietrasanta in Italy, from where he travels worldwide for his work.

Jean Gaumy, Martin Langer
Jean Gaumy es un fotógrafo y realizador francés nacido en 1948, que ha estado asociado con la agencia Magnum desde 1977.
Asistió a la escuela en Toulouse y Aurillac y se fue a la universidad en Rouen. Mientras era estudiante en Rouen comenzó a trabajar como fotógrafo independiente para ayudar a pagar su educación. En 1973 se unió a Gamma (agencia).
Gran parte de su trabajo se ha centrado en el confinamiento humano. En 1975 comenzó a trabajar en dos proyectos de este tipo en Francia: L'Hôpital (El Hospital) y Les Incarcérés (Los Encarcelados), ambos publicados como libros. Jean Gaumy is a French photographer and filmmaker born in 1948, who has been associated with Magnum Photos since 1977.
He attended school in Toulouse and Aurillac and went to university in Rouen. While a student in Rouen, he began working as a freelance photographer to help pay for his education. In 1973 he joined Gamma (agency).
Much of his work has focused on human confinement. In 1975 he began work on two such projects in France: L'hôpital and Les Incarcérés, both of which were published as books. Les Incarcérés was an unprecedented project on French prisons—he was the first to receive permission to photograph them. In 1984 he made his first film, La Boucane. It was nominated for a César in 1986. That year he also began a series of trips aboard trawlers which led to his 2001 publication Pleine Mer. Beginning in 1987 he spent two years documenting Octeville-sur-Mer through the eyes of the so-called village idiot Jean-Jacques. Since the late 1980s he has also traveled often to Iran and has also traveled in Central America and Africa.
He has made several other films. In recent years he has been documenting life on a nuclear submarine and has also worked on a series of mountain landscapes.

Martin Langer es un fotógrafo alemán. Estudió comunicación visual con énfasis en el fotoperiodismo.
Desde 1984 trabajó como fotógrafo en cuestiones políticas y sociales para revistas, editoriales y organizaciones tales como Robin Wood y Greenpeace. Recibió el Fuji Euro Press Photo Award en 1995 por su documentación fotográfica de la captura de la plataforma petrolífera Brent Spar por la organización ecologista Greenpeace.
Su obra alcanzó gran visibilidad tras el reportaje documental encargado por Der Spiegel, una serie en blanco y negro sobre los disturbios en Rostock-Lichtenhage (agosto de 1982). La imagen más famosa muestra al desempleado Harald Ewert, vestido con una camiseta de la selección de fútbol alemana, y los pantalones del chándal con apariencia de haberse orinado, con la mano derecha en alto haciendo el saludo de Hitler. La fotografía se convirtió en un símbolo del "mal alemán", es uno de los iconos de la fotografía de posguerra y fue publicada un centenar de veces. (ver anexo, 3b)
Martin Langer is a German photographer. He studied visual communication with an emphasis in photojournalism.
Since 1984 he worked as a photographer in political and social issues for magazines, publishing houses and organizations such as Greenpeace and Robin Wood. He received the Fuji Euro Press Photo Award in 1995 for his photographic documentation of capturing the Brent Spar oil platform by Greenpeace.
His work gained great visibility after the documentary report commissioned by Der Spiegel, a series in black and white on the riots in Rostock-Lichtenhage (August 1982). The most famous image shows the unemployed Harald Ewert, wearing a team jersey of German football and sweatpants with appearance of having urinated, right hand up doing the Hitler salute. The photograph became a symbol of "bad German", is one of the icons of postwar photography and have been published a hundred times. (see annex, 3b)

Hans Hollein
Hans Hollein fue un arquitecto y diseñador austríaco nacido en 1934.
Fue alumno de Clemens Holzmeister en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Viena. Posteriormente, amplió sus estudios en el IIT de Chicago y en la Universidad de Berkeley. Entre 1963 y 1966, fue profesor en Estados Unidos. Posteriormente, entre 1967 y 1976, enseñó en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Düsseldorf. Desde 1976, fue profesor de la Universidad de Artes Aplicadas de Viena y desde 2002 ocupaba el cargo de profesor emérito.
Su proyecto para el Museo Abteiberg en Mönchengladbach le consagró como una de las figuras de la Arquitectura postmoderna. En 1985 fue reconocido con el Premio Pritzker.
Murió en 2014.

Hans Hollein was Austrian architect and designer born in 1934.
He was a student of Clemens Holzmeister in the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. He later furthered his studies at IIT Chicago and the University of Berkeley. Between 1963 and 1966, he taught in the United States. Later, between 1967 and 1976, he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf. Since 1976, he taught at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and from 2002 held the position of professor emeritus.
His project for the Abteiberg Museum in Mönchengladbach consecrated him as one of the figures of postmodern architecture. In 1985 he was awarded the Pritzker Prize.
He died in 2014.

Rupert Vandervell
Nacido y residente en Londres, Rupert Vandervell es un fotógrafo autodidacta que ha pasado la mayor parte de su vida trabajando en el video diseño en la industria de la moda.
"Mi estilo fotográfico es muy representativo de mi personalidad. Siempre he estado obsesionado con las líneas limpias y el aspecto geométrico de las cosas.
Encuentro la belleza no necesariamente en el tema en sí, sino en el espacio que lo rodea. Hay poca ornamentación en mis cuadros; la decoración proviene de los juegos de luz, sombra, forma y textura".

Roger Turesson
Roger Turesson es un fotógrafo sueco nacido en 1956.
Turesson empezó a trabajar como fotógrafo en el Daily News después de ser gestor de imágenes durante un tiempo. Anteriormente había trabajado como fotógrafo y director de vídeo en Expressen, y ha ganado el concurso "Foto del Año" en 1983, 1987 y 1991. Vincenzo Balocchi
Vincenzo Balocchi fue un fotógrafo italiano nacido en Florencia en 1892.
Se pasó a la fotografía después de graduarse en ingeniería en 1921. Más tarde se convirtió en el primer manager de la creación de la Alinari Fratelli. Fue fundador del Instituto italiano Fotocromo, especializado en la reproducción de obras de arte y, al mismo tiempo, comenzó a tomar sus primeras fotografías con una cámara "Leica". Luego pasó al formato grande "6x6".
En 1942 cuatro de sus fotografías tomadas con su Leica fueron publicadas en el libro "Ocho fotógrafos italianos de hoy", y en la presentación de este, se le describe como teniendo "Desde hace algún tiempo un lugar destacado entre fotógrafos italianos".
Murió en 1975.

Vincenzo Balocchi was an Italian photographer born in Florence in 1892.
He moved to photography after graduating in engineering (1921). Later he became the first manager in the creation of Fratelli Alinari. He was the founder of the Italian Institute Fotocromo, specializing in the reproduction of works of art, and at the same time began taking his first photographs with a camera "Leica", then move on to the large format "6x6" .
In 1942, four of his works were published in the book "Eight Italian photographers today", and in the presentation of this book, he is described as occupying "some time ago a prominent place among Italian photographers".
He died in 1975.

El humor y el momento adecuado / Humour and the Right Moment
Nick Turpin
Nick Turpin es un fotógrafo callejero, de publicidad y diseño británico nacido en 1969 en Londres. Trabaja cerca de Lyon, Francia.
Estudió un curso básico de arte y diseño en la Universidad de Gloucestershire, especializándose en fotografía, a continuación una licenciatura en fotografía, cine y vídeo en la Universidad de Westminster. Mientras estaba en la universidad mostró sus historias de fotoperiodismo de segundo año al editor de imágenes en The Independent y en 1990, con 20 años, abandonó a su curso para ser un fotógrafo de prensa para el periódico. Dejó The Independent en 1997 por una carrera en fotografía publicitaria y de diseño que financiara su fotografía callejera.
En 2000 Turpin estableció el primer colectivo internacional de fotógrafos callejeros, In-Public, con la intención de reunir fotógrafos de similar mentalidad para realizar exposiciones, producción de libros y llevar adelante talleres.

Nick Turpin is a British street photographer, and advertising and design photographer born in 1969 in London. He's based near Lyon, France.
He studied an art and design foundation course at the University of Gloucestershire, specialising in photography; then a BA in photography, film and video at the University of Westminster. Whilst at university he showed his second year photojournalism stories to the picture editor at The Independent and in 1990, aged 20, quit his course to be a press photographer for the newspaper. He left The Independent in 1997 for a career in advertising and design photography that would finance his street photography.
Turpin established the first international collective of street photographers, In-Public, in 2000 with the intention of bringing together like minded photographers to hold exhibitions, produce books and conduct workshops.

Shirley Rebuffo es uruguaya, Licenciada en Bibliotecología, Archivología y Museología, y habitual colaboradora del blog. Sobre esta foto me escribe:
«La muestra es de Leandro Erlich "Puerto de memorias" fue la que fui a ver, pero me encontré que también exponía Bernardí Roig, con unas esculturas fantasmales que dialogan con la atmósfera del viejo hotel. Estos "hombres blancos" están tristes y como buscando algo, agobiados por el clima. Uno de esos hombecitos se encontraba en el descanso de la escalera hacia el segundo piso. Es como un diablo con cuernos y un globo. (...)
[El] señor estuvo rato mirando el muñequito y mirando el río desde la ventana. Este señor con bastón luego habló a su familia, que ya estaba arriba donde estaba yo, con un acento extranjero. Pero me gustó su subida con bastón.... estuve rato para tomar esa foto...»

"I went to see the exhibition of Leandro Erlich "Port of memories", but I come across an exhibition of Bernardi Roig, with ghostly sculptures that dialogue with the atmosphere of the old hotel. These "white men" are sad, and searching for something, weighed down by the weather. One of those little men was in the landing to the second floor. It's like a devil with horns and a balloon. (...)
[The] man was watching the figure for a while, and watching the river from the window. This man with a cane then talked with his family with a foreign accent. They was already upstairs where I was. But I liked his ascent with the cane .... It took me some time to make the picture ... "
